Enabling a market in which nature and its stewards are the primary beneficiaries.
The High-level Principles White Paper is a joint collaboration between BCA, IAPB and WEF. It was developed after extensive consultation between various stakeholders, with the significant inclusion of IEG (International Environmental Guardianship), formerly known as CAP, a member-based organization of Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities, and Afro-Descendants.
High-level Principles to Guide the Biodiversity Credit Market, build a common understanding of good practice, and help grow a market based on high-integrity biodiversity credits where the principal beneficiaries are nature and the people who protect it.
Endorsement
For the High-level Principles to be broadly adopted, they first require broad support. Please consider endorsing the Principles on behalf of your organization and adding your message of advocacy. Every endorsement is a positive step towards growing a just and equitable market based on high-integrity biodiversity credits.

From High-level principles to high-integrity practice
To provide a structured and accessible way for credit schemes to assess their methodologies, standards and protocols against the High-level Principles, BCA has developed a prototype Assessment Matrix.
During an initial piloting phase, Version 1.0 the Assessment Matrix is available upon application. If your organization is interested in using the Assessment Matrix, please fill in this form and for more context, download the High-level Principles Assessment Matrix Guidance Note.
BCA encourages standard setters, methodology designers and project developers to use Version 1.0 as a learning tool, and to share insights from its application. Through ongoing testing and development, and the eventual linking of a third-party validation process, the Assessment Matrix will evolve into a comprehensive digital tool that embeds high integrity in the market.
